After a week when space is in the news and there are a number of astronomical events I thought this picture might be of interest.
Hearing Buzz Aldrin talk reminded me of conversations I’ve had with other astronauts, all of whom have said the same thing… from space, everything about the Earth is so small and insignificant compared to the magnitude of space.
The width of a fingernail at dawn is that layer of Earth in which all human events, actions and thoughts from the whole of history are confined. When considered from this perspective, there are no nations, only a single humanity on a rather small planet.
We need to act with this understanding on a daily basis.
