i dont sympathize with this proverb at all. not only have i dealt with teachers who tried to humiliate their students for having questions or asking the wrong thing (creating people who are actually afraid of learning) i recently talked to a retired teacher who related such a horror story about her own grade-school education.
bottom line– there are good teachers, and there are great teachers, and there are terrible teachers. its the latter that make people want to eschew learning; blaming the student is neglecting the real problem.
