The Learning Renaissance

The Dimensions of School Leadership

Thank To Andrew Howard for sharing this infographic regarding the dimensions of leadership required from a modern school leader.

It rings true with my experience. In my new book Future Proof Your School I argue at length that too much leadership time is taken up with managing the day, without planning improvement strategies, or burying the school in data dressed up as management information.

The latter preoccupation with data I relate to managerialism… the idea that any activity is simply a matter of maximising the outputs from the given inputs. This puts school leadership on a par with the management of a large scale industrial process!

Andrew’s infographic provides a much more holistic and future looking conception of the dimensions of leadership.
