However, it should be qualified. There are, in fact, no times of stability, only times of change and instability. The changes instituted by the industrial revolution have accelerated during the silicon age. Knowledge and information is expanding exponentially, which is why it is futile trying to build a curriculum around a set body of mostly redundant knowledge.
The future lies in the development of independent and autonomous learners whose curriculum is composed of experiences designed to enable them to develop and deploy appropriate attitudes, behaviours and competencies to problem-solve for themselves and work effectively in teams towards socially useful and responsible outcomes.
